Claude Code

Give Claude Code a long-term memory: the Era Brain plugin connects over OAuth and adds a skill that knows when to recall and when to save.

The era-brain plugin gives Claude Code three things:

  • Era's MCP server for memory alone (/api/mcp?tools=brain), signed in with your browser — no key to paste;
  • a memory skill: search before answering questions about people, preferences and past decisions; save one self-contained fact when you say something durable; never save secrets; correct or forget when something changed;
  • two commands, /era-brain:remember <fact> and /era-brain:recall <question>.

Install

Terminal
claude plugin marketplace add geteraio/era-brain-plugin
claude plugin install era-brain@era

Restart Claude Code. Then, inside it:

Claude Code
/mcp

Choose plugin:era-brain:era-brain → Authenticate. Your browser opens Era's consent card: pick the workspace, leave Era Brain · memory ticked (switch on Read only if Claude should only recall), and approve. The server turns to connected.

Your own Era

If your company runs its own Era, point the plugin at it once:

Terminal
echo '{"era_url":"https://era.example.com"}' | claude plugin configure era-brain@era --values-stdin

Try it

Claude Code
Remember that our staging database is reset every Sunday at 03:00.

Claude saves one statement with add_memory and tells you what it saved. In a new session — or in Codex, or in your own app on the same workspace:

Claude Code
When is staging reset?

Claude calls search_memory first and answers from it.

Without the plugin

The same server, without the skill and the commands:

Terminal
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user era-brain "https://app.getera.io/api/mcp?tools=brain"

Then /mcp → era-brain → Authenticate. Tell Claude when to use it in your CLAUDE.md — the Codex page has a section you can copy.

Tools

ToolWhat it doesNeeds
search_memoryHybrid recall, newest value first; graph: true adds relationship pathsbrain:read
add_memorySaves text or ready-made facts; visibility: "private" keeps it to youbrain:write
graph_pathsHow the people, companies and products in a question are connectedbrain:read
forget_memoryStops Era using a memory, by id or described in wordsbrain:write

A read-only connection lists only search_memory and graph_paths.

Troubleshooting

What you seeWhat to do
Needs authentication in /mcpChoose the server and Authenticate. Sign in to Era in that browser first if it asks.
not available to this connectionThe connection was approved without Era Brain, or read-only. Disconnect it in Settings → API keys → Connected apps and authenticate again.
A saved memory says waitingLonger text is split into facts by your workspace's AI, and private notes are filed with your own AI. Connect one in Era. Brain also asks that AI when a new fact may replace an older one; until one is connected, the memory waits.
Claude does not use the memoryAsk it directly once ("check Era Brain") — the skill loads when a task touches people, preferences or past work. /plugin shows whether era-brain is enabled.
