Claude Code, Codex and Cursor
Connect your coding assistant to Era over MCP with a browser sign-in — no key to copy — and let it read and act with your permissions.
Era's MCP server is https://app.getera.io/api/mcp (streamable HTTP). Add it to your assistant without a key: the first time it connects, your browser opens Era's consent card, you pick the workspace, which modules it may reach and whether it may only read, and the assistant gets an OAuth token bound to exactly that. It never reaches further than you can in Era, and you can disconnect it any time under Settings → Advanced → API keys → Connected apps.
claude mcp add --transport http era https://app.getera.io/api/mcpThen, inside Claude Code:
/mcpChoose era → Authenticate. Your browser opens Era's consent card; approve it and come back — the status turns to connected.
codex mcp add era --url https://app.getera.io/api/mcp
codex mcp login eracodex mcp login era opens Era's consent card in your browser. If you prefer the config file, the same server in ~/.codex/config.toml is:
[mcp_servers.era]
url = "https://app.getera.io/api/mcp"{
"mcpServers": {
"era": { "url": "https://app.getera.io/api/mcp" }
}
}Cursor opens Era's sign-in the first time it connects to the server (Settings → MCP shows its state).
Print it for your setup
If you have the CLI, era mcp prints these snippets with your Era's address (era mcp --client claude|codex|cursor for one).
What the assistant gets
Only what the consent allows, as tools:
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
read__… | Reads the modules it may read — customers, orders, bookings, invoices… — with your row rules and masked fields. |
recall_memory | Searches the business's memory (Brain). Needs the AI module. |
era__<module>__<action> | Every action it may call, e.g. era__crm__capture_lead, era__retail__fulfil_order. Same input, preconditions and errors as the API; each runs as you and lands in the activity feed. |
Try it
Using Era: list my 10 newest unfulfilled orders with customer, total and payment status.
Don't change anything.Using Era: capture a lead for the customer [email protected] — she wants the yearly plan.
Show me the tool call before you make it.Troubleshooting
| What you see | Why, and what to do |
|---|---|
| The browser never opens | Run the client's sign-in again (/mcp → Authenticate, codex mcp login era). Make sure you are signed in to Era in that browser. |
| A tool you expected is missing | The token does not reach that module, or your role does not allow it. Disconnect the app and connect again with more modules, or ask an admin. |
409 with a code such as order_not_fulfillable | A precondition of the action — the reference lists every code and what it means. |
401 after a while | The connection was revoked or your seat removed. Connect again. |
